Don't Increase Recipes From Memory: Here's Why!

Are you doubling or tripling a recipe? With big events like the Super Bowl coming up it's easy to find yourself baking 4 pans of brownies instead of just one. Although we offered up a few helps to keep track while you measure in ingredients, there's one more way to make sure you stay on track!

If you're getting ready to feed a crowd and find yourself making more than just what the recipe calls for, try this simple trick to keep things straight — a pencil.

Although it's not difficult to double a recipe and add two sticks of butter instead of one, the easiest slip up when doubling or tripling in your head as you go is remembering to actually do it! It's super easy to add extra of the first few ingredients and then just add a single egg instead of 3 because you forgot to increase!

Instead, take a few seconds and grab a pencil. Make a quick run down of the ingredients, no matter how simple and write out to the side the new increases. It might seem silly, but it won't be until after your banana bread is in the oven that you remember about the forgotten extra flour!
