Best Unbreakable Dishes for Outdoor Eating?

Best Unbreakable Dishes for Outdoor Eating?

Q: Wondering if anyone has recommendations for outdoor dishes to use this summer. I'm concerned with the potential hazards of melamine and the fact you can only use it in the dishwasher's top rack (plates and bowls would never fit).

I would love something that is nearly unbreakable, safe for the kids and dishwasher friendly. Seems simple but I can't find anything — is this too tall of an order? Anyone have non-melamine suggestions?

Editor: Leanne, I'm a big fan of tempered glassware for outdoor use. Depending on your outside situation (patio? deck? grass?) it may be ideal. The only drawback is that when tempered glass breaks, it seriously shatters. It just doesn't do this easily; if you are eating outdoors on a deck or on grass, then I think it might be a good choice. Check out some of these options:

Readers, any good ideas for Leanne?
